Improve Your Game with Remote Coaching

Receive top level instruction at a fraction of the price!

As an in person instructor for years, I realized that most people need to focus on a single aspect of their technique for each session of practice. This lends itself quite well to remote instruction. With a video displaying your current technique, I will pinpoint the most relevant body movement to improve upon. With a set of drills to practice, we will focus on this one skill. The drills will likely start on easy terrain, progress to more challenging terrain, and finally the movement will integrate back into the sports normal flow. An example would be improving weight transfer from ski to ski in short turns on a groomed blue slope. Then taking the new skill to more challenging terrain like chutes, moguls, rails, or jumps. Another instance is learning to lean a mountain bike over in a parking lot, then doing it on a dirt trail or banked turn. Continual evaluation is key in perfecting new techniques. As you improve, I will re-evaluate you in a new video! Show me your improved skills and lets set some new goals!

Mountain Bike Instruction

Tactics

Tactics are essential with mountain biking. Should I be on the seat or off the seat? tilting the bike or leaning my body? Speeding up or braking? Lets go over proper tactics for different situations and outcomes.

Skill Development

Once we know the proper tactics for a situation, we can focus on dialing the technique.

  • Stance
  • Pedal use/Crank positioning
  • Braking
  • Balance and weight transfer

Equipment

There are so many options with bikes these days, choosing the one that best fits your style of riding will make a huge impact on the experience.

Overcoming Obstacles

Learn to smoothly navigate bumps, logs, rocks, and roots using various techniques and tactics to create a fast and calm flow.

Jumping

Improve your abilities with jumps  by addressing  the takeoff, air time, and landing

Berms and Corners

Rail, Skid, Hop, or Slide through turns. Conquer uphill switchbacks to gain speed and have fun on the uphill. Handle loose, sandy, wet, or rocky corners like a champ.

Sharing Media

Options for sharing videos include...

  •  Uploading to a google drive shared between us
  • Screen Share on our Zoom call
  • Emailing videos as attachment
  • Sending through social media
  • Uploading videos to a YouTube or Vimeo channel

Video style

Videos should be taken from a perspective that allows  me to see clear body movements as they relate to sport performance. Varying the difficulty of terrain and showing yourself attempting maneuvers you hope to improve upon will give me a clear picture of our goal.

Go pro footage

Go pro footage can be useful for addressing choices in tactic, but are often limited in displaying the athletes body movements.

Goals

Part of the communication between us will be outlining a set of goals. Where are you currently in your sport, and where do you want to be?  Goal setting is a continuous process achieved through collaboration. As goals are achieved, new goals can be assessed.
